wiring diagram, figure FO-3, connect multi-
meter between ends of wire, and check mul-
t i m e t e r f o r c o n t i n u i t y i n d i c a t i o n . I f m u l-
t i m e t e r d o e s n o t i n d i c a t e c o n t i n u i t y , r e -
pair wire, connector, or terminal.
Connect multimeter between either end of
wire under test and good vehicle ground.
Check multimeter for no continuity (open
c i r c u i t ) i n d i c a t i o n . I f m u l t i m e t e r i n d i -
cates continuity, repair chafed or cut wire
i n s u l a t i o n .
Identify harness wires adjacent to wire under test. Connect multimeter
between either end of wire under test and each adjacent wire. Check mul-
t i m e t e r f o r n o c o n t i n u i t y ( o p e n c i r c u i t ) i n d i c a t i o n f o r e a c h t e s t . If
multimeter indicates continuity, repair chafed or cut wire insulation.

Remove clamps and cut, remove, a n d d i s c a r d t i e s t r a p s a s n e c e s s a r y f o r
a c c e s s t o w i r e s i n f o l l o w i n g s t e p s . I f n e c e s s a r y , c a r e f u l l y c u t o u t e r
covering from wiring harness to expose wires. If defective wire is not
a c c e s s i b l e f o r r e p a i r , o r i f w i r i n g h a r n e s s i s b a d l y d a m a g e d , n o t i fy
direct support maintenance to replace wiring harness.
(1) Repair cut or defective wire by cutting length of
wire. Strip 1/4 inch insulation from end of wires
through wires. Splice ends of new wire to ends of
sulated splice connectors.
