4-1. ENGINE MAINTENANCE (CONT)
h. Camshaft and Bearings (Cont).
REASSEMBLY
(1)
Install thrust washer (8) then key on camshaft (9).
(2) Heat gears (5 and 6) using gear and bearing heater.
Wear heat resistant gloves
when performing steps (3) and
(4) below to prevent burning
your hands.
If you burn your
hands ,
get medical aid
immediately.
(3) Install drive gear (6) on cam-
shaft (9), be sure timing marks
are facing outward.
(4) Install idler drive gear (5) on
camshaft (9), large hub side
facing drive gear (6).

Install thrust washer (4) on
camshaft (9).
Install nut (3) on camshaft (9). Tighten nut to 195 to 205 lb-ft.
