HYDRAULIC PUMP MAINTENANCE (CONT) REASSEMBLY (SHEET 1 OF 2)a.b.c.d.e.f.g.h.If shaft end cover (34) was replaced, installplug (33) in discharge side of cover as shown.Apply retaining compound to outer diameter ofnew seal (32). Put shaft end cover (34) in hy-draulic press. Position seal in shaft end coveras shown. Press seal into cover until seal is incontact with shoulder in cover.Put port end cover (3) in a vise.Put oil-soluble grease in two center grooves forpocket seals (5) of thrust plate (4). Installtwo new pocket seals (5) in center groove ofthrust plate.Position thrust plate (4) on bearings (6) in-stalled in port end cover (3). Push thrust plateonto bearings until thrust plate is approxi-mately 1/32 inch above machined surface of portend cover.Install four new pocket seals (5) in fourgrooves of thrust plate (4). Push pocketseals into grooves until seals are incontact with bearings (6).Push thrust plate (4) down as far as itwill go. If necessary, cut pocket seals(5) using a sharp knife to make pocketseals even with outer surface of thrustplate.Remove port end cover (3) from vise andput bearing carrier (15) in vise. Repeatsteps d through g above to install 12pocket seals (17) and two thrust plates(16) on bearing carrier.4-272
