If shaft end cover (34) was replaced, install
plug (33) in discharge side of cover as shown.
Apply retaining compound to outer diameter of
new seal (32). Put shaft end cover (34) in hy-
draulic press. Position seal in shaft end cover
as shown. Press seal into cover until seal is in
contact with shoulder in cover.
Put port end cover (3) in a vise.
Put oil-soluble grease in two center grooves for
pocket seals (5) of thrust plate (4). Install
two new pocket seals (5) in center groove of
thrust plate.
Position thrust plate (4) on bearings (6) in-
stalled in port end cover (3). Push thrust plate
onto bearings until thrust plate is approxi-
mately 1/32 inch above machined surface of port
end cover.
Install four new pocket seals (5) in four
grooves of thrust plate (4). Push pocket
seals into grooves until seals are in
contact with bearings (6).
Push thrust plate (4) down as far as it
will go. If necessary, cut pocket seals
(5) using a sharp knife to make pocket
seals even with outer surface of thrust
plate.
Remove port end cover (3) from vise and
put bearing carrier (15) in vise. Repeat
steps d through g above to install 12
pocket seals (17) and two thrust plates
(16) on bearing carrier.
