4-8. HYDRAULIC PUMP MAINTENANCE (CONT)
REASSEMBLY (SHEET 2 OF 2)
i. Remove bearing carrier (15) from vise and put shaft end cover (34) in vise.
Repeat steps d through g above to install six pocket seals (29) and thrust
plate (28) on shaft end cover.
j. Install four studs (27) in shaft end cover (34).
k. Install driven gear (23) and drive gear (22).
l. Install two new seals (25) in grooves of gear housing (24). Use oil-soluble
grease to hold seals in grooves.
m. Install gear housing (24) over studs (27). Be sure match marks made during
disassembly are in alinement. Put clean lubricating oil on gears (22 and 23)
and in gear housing.
n. Install bearing carrier (15) over studs (27). Be sure match marks made during
disassembly are in alinement.
o. Install connecting shaft (21) in drive gear (22).
p. Install driven gear (14) and drive gear (13).
q.
Install two new seals (11 and 10) in grooves of gear housing (9). Use oil-
soluble grease to hold seals in grooves.
r. Install gear housing (9) over studs (27). Be sure match marks made during dis-
assembly are in alinement. Put clean lubricating oil on gears (13 and 14) and
in gear housing.
s. Install port end cover (3) over studs (27). Be sure match marks made during
disassembly are in alinement.
t. Install four washers (2) and nuts (1). Tighten nuts (1) to 50 lb-ft.
u. Using a wrench, check that hydraulic pump shaft turns. If shaft does not turn,
disassemble pump and check cause.
v. Tighten nuts (1) to 200 lb-ft.
w. Install hydraulic pump (page 3-613).
