Place hydraulic reservoir on 6 by 6 inch wood blocks.
Fill hydraulic reservoir completely with water.
Never allow sparks or open flame near hydraulic reservoir unless
reservoir is completely filled with water. Failure to observe this
precaution may cause serious injury or death due to hydraulic reservoir
explosion. If you are injured, get medical aid immediately.
Using shop welding equipment, weld all marked areas where air bubbles were
seen to seal holes. If reservoir cannot be economically repaired by welding,
replace it.
After welding, remove drain plug from bottom of hydraulic reservoir and drain
water.
Remove all parts installed in ports of hydraulic reservoir.
Dry cleaning solvent P-D-680 used to clean parts is toxic and flammable.
Wear protective goggles and gloves and use only in a well ventilated
area. Avoid contact with skin, eyes and clothes and dont breathe
vapors. Do not use near open flame or excessive heat and dont smoke
when using it. Failure to do so could cause serious injury. If you be-
come dizzy while using cleaning solvent, get fresh air and medical
attention immediately.
If contact with skin or clothes is made, flush
with large amounts of water.
If contact with eyes is made, wash eyes
with water and get medical aid immediately.
Immerse hydraulic reservoir in a bath of cleaning solvent P-D-680 and allow to
soak for 10 minutes. Agitate bath while hydraulic reservoir is soaking.
Compressed air used for cleaning purposes will not exceed 30 psi. Use
only with effective chip guarding and personal protective equipment
(goggles/shield, gloves, etc). Failure to do so could cause serious
injury to eyes and possible blindness.
If you hurt your eyes or if a
foreign object is blown into your eyes, seek medical attention
immediately.
Remove hydraulic reservoir from bath and drain all cleaning solvent from it.
Dry using compressed air.
Repeat Pressure Test (page 4-279).
