HYDRAULIC RESERVOIR MAINTENANCE (CONT)lREPAIR (SHEET 1 OF 2)a.b.c.d.e.f.g.h.4-280Place hydraulic reservoir on 6 by 6 inch wood blocks.Fill hydraulic reservoir completely with water.Never allow sparks or open flame near hydraulic reservoir unlessreservoir is completely filled with water. Failure to observe thisprecaution may cause serious injury or death due to hydraulic reservoirexplosion. If you are injured, get medical aid immediately.Using shop welding equipment, weld all marked areas where air bubbles wereseen to seal holes. If reservoir cannot be economically repaired by welding,replace it.After welding, remove drain plug from bottom of hydraulic reservoir and drainwater.Remove all parts installed in ports of hydraulic reservoir.Dry cleaning solvent P-D-680 used to clean parts is toxic and flammable.Wear protective goggles and gloves and use only in a well ventilatedarea. Avoid contact with skin, eyes and clothes and don’t breathevapors. Do not use near open flame or excessive heat and don’t smokewhen using it. Failure to do so could cause serious injury. If you be-come dizzy while using cleaning solvent, get fresh air and medicalattention immediately.If contact with skin or clothes is made, flushwith large amounts of water.If contact with eyes is made, wash eyeswith water and get medical aid immediately.Immerse hydraulic reservoir in a bath of cleaning solvent P-D-680 and allow tosoak for 10 minutes. Agitate bath while hydraulic reservoir is soaking.Compressed air used for cleaning purposes will not exceed 30 psi. Useonly with effective chip guarding and personal protective equipment(goggles/shield, gloves, etc). Failure to do so could cause seriousinjury to eyes and possible blindness.If you hurt your eyes or if aforeign object is blown into your eyes, seek medical attentionimmediately.Remove hydraulic reservoir from bath and drain all cleaning solvent from it.Dry using compressed air.Repeat Pressure Test (page 4-279).
