MALFUNCTION
TEST OR INSPECTION
CORRECTIVE ACTION
1. ENGINE HARD TO START OR WILL NOT START (NO EXHAUST SMOKE) (Cont).
Step 1. (Cont).
b. If fuel shutoff lever is completely opened, go to step 2 below.
Step 2.
Remove cap nut from fuel injec-
tion pump drive end.
Tell assistant to push fuel SHUT
OFF control completely in and to
press accelerator pedal.
Check if fuel injection pump
control rack moves outward when
accelerator pedal is pressed and
inward when accelerator pedal is
released.
a. If control rack does not
move, work it back and forth
to relieve sticking due to
gum and varnish. If control
rack cannot be moved, go to
Malfunction 1, page 2-47.
b. If control rack moves, go to
Malfunction 1, page 2-47.
