Replaceflyweight (23) as anassembly if any of theabove conditions areseen or clearances areincorrect.NOTEReplace an item if inspectionindicates need for replace-ment.(2)(3)(4)(5)(6)(7)Inspect guide sleeve assembly (41 thru 44) for cracks, pitting, and ex-cessive wear of bearing surface for flyweight rollers. Replace guidesleeve as an assembly (41 thru 44) if guide sleeve body (42) requires re-placement.Inspect levers (47, 48, 49, 50, 54, 64, and 73) for cracks, twisted con-dition, and elongated pivot holes. Check guide lever (48) knuckle andswivel lever (73) rocker for freedom of movement and excessive play. Re-place guide lever (48) or swivel lever (73) as an assembly if knuckle orrocker requires replacement. Check for excessive play between fulcrumlever (47) pivot hole and guide lever (48) pin.Inspect bushings (71) for scored, pitted, or excessively worn bore, ordamaged retaining ring groove.Inspect springs for cracks, broken coils, and permanent set. Use springgage to measure force required to extend spring (51) to 0.25 inch. Re-place spring (51) if required force is not 85 to 90 pounds.Inspect all other parts for cracks, distortion, excessive wear, or threaddamage.On fuel injection pump, measure camshaft projection and end play (page3-160). Correct as necessary using shims before installing fuel injectiongovernor.3-177
