Inspect flyweight (23)
for worn or damaged
rollers, pivot pins,
and weights. Check
installed flyweight
for freedom of move-
ment and proper clear-
ance as shown. Replace
flyweight (23) as an
assembly if any of the
above conditions are
seen or clearances are
incorrect.
NOTE

Inspect guide sleeve assembly (41 thru 44) for cracks, pitting, and ex-
cessive wear of bearing surface for flyweight rollers. Replace guide
sleeve as an assembly (41 thru 44) if guide sleeve body (42) requires re-
placement.
Inspect levers (47, 48, 49, 50, 54, 64, and 73) for cracks, twisted con-
dition, and elongated pivot holes. Check guide lever (48) knuckle and
swivel lever (73) rocker for freedom of movement and excessive play. Re-
place guide lever (48) or swivel lever (73) as an assembly if knuckle or
rocker requires replacement. Check for excessive play between fulcrum
lever (47) pivot hole and guide lever (48) pin.
Inspect bushings (71) for scored, pitted, or excessively worn bore, or
damaged retaining ring groove.
Inspect springs for cracks, broken coils, and permanent set. Use spring
gage to measure force required to extend spring (51) to 0.25 inch. Re-
place spring (51) if required force is not 85 to 90 pounds.
Inspect all other parts for cracks, distortion, excessive wear, or thread
damage.
On fuel injection pump, measure camshaft projection and end play (page
3-160). Correct as necessary using shims before installing fuel injection
governor.
