TM 5-3805-262-34INSPECTION/RBPAIR(1)Inspect radiator fan guard for cracks, dents, or distortion. Repair smalldents using blocks of wood and hammer. Replace radiator assembly if radi-ator fan guard beyond repair.(2) Inspect transmission oil cooler at base of radiator assembly for cracksand evidence of transmission oil mixed with engine coolant. Replace radi-ator assembly if any of the above conditions are seen.(3)Inspect flanges for cracks and damaged or stripped threads. Repair threaddamage by chasing with proper size tap. If thread damage cannot be clean-ed up, replace radiator assembly.NOTEIn following two steps, remove all paint from area to be soldered usingwire brush and abrasive cloth,(4)Inspect radiator hose necks for cracks and evidence of leaks. Repair aloose hose neck by soldering.(5) Inspect radiator core for bent cooling fins or evidence of leaks. Care-fully straighten bent fins to prevent damaging core. Repair leaking coreby soldering. Replace radiator assembly if beyond repair.(6)Paint repaired areas using flat black radiator paint.(7)Install radiator and radiator guard (refer to TM 5-3805-262-20).3-195
