2. ENGINE HART TO START OR WILL NOT START (EXHAUST SMOKE) (Cont).
Step 9. (Cont).
b. If timing adjustment is okay, go to step 10 below.
Step 10. Check fuel injection governor adjustments (page 3-14).
a. If fuel injection governor adjustments are not okay, adjust
(page 3-14). If adjustments cannot be performed, go to step 11
below.
b. If fuel injection governor adjustments are okay, go to step 12
below.
Step 11. Remove five capscrews securing gear cover and gasket to timing gear
cover.
Discard gasket.
Check fuel injection pump drive gear to idler gear backlash using
dial indicator.
Backlash should be 0.012 inch.
