3-8. DRIVE SHAFTS MAINTENANCE (CONT)
c. Center Support Bearing.
This task provides disassembly, cleaning, inspection,
repair, and reassembly of center support bearing.
TOOLS: No. 1 Common Organizational Maintenance Tool Kit
Safety glasses
Fixed open end wrench set
Key set, socket head screw
Vise
Rubber mallet
MATERIALS/PARTS: Clean cloths (Appendix C, item 1)
Cleaning solvent P-D-680 (Appendix C, item 2)
Grease (Appendix C, item 7)

NOTE
PRELIMINARY PROCEDURE: Center support bearing removed (refer to TM
5-3805-262-20).
DISASSEMBLY

If necessary, loosen setscrews (1 and 2) and remove.
Remove lubrication fitting (3).
Turn center support bearing upside down and let lock pin (4) fall out of
lubrication fitting (3) bore into your hand.
Put center support bearing housin
(6) in a vise. Using rubber mallet,
hit bottom of bearing and seal (5)
to turn bearing in housing as shown.
Continue hitting bearing and seal (5) until bearing is alined with
notches in housing (6).
Remove bearing and seal (5) from housing (6).
