This task covers disassembly, cleaning, inspection, re-
pair, and reassembly of center drive shaft.

Torque wrench, 1/2 inch drive

Socket wrench set, 1/2 inch drive

Rubber mallet

NOTE
PRELIMINARY PROCEDURE: Center drive shaft removed (refer to TM 5-
3805-262-20).

Remove eight capscrews (1) and lock washers (2).
Remove two universal joints (3) with lubrication fittings (4) from
splined yoke (5) and slip yoke (10). If necessary, tap universal joints
lightly using rubber mallet to loosen.
Remove two lubrication fittings (4) from universal joints (3).
Using paint, put match marks on splined yoke (5) and slip yoke (10) to
aid reassembly.
Loosen cap (8) and slide cap outward on splined yoke (5).
Pull splined yoke (5) from slip yoke (10).
Remove two washers (6), felt washer (7), and cap (8). Discard felt
washer.
Remove two lubrication fittings (9) from slip yoke (10).
