3-9. FRONT AND REAR AXLES MAINTENANCE (CONT)
C. Front Axle Planetary Assemblies (Cont).
REMOVAL (SHEET 2 OF 2)
(9) Connect chain hoist equipped with nylon straps to wheel hub (31).
(10) Remove two socket head screws (7) securing lock plate (8) to ring gear
hub (10). Remove lock plate.
(11) Remove wheel bearing nut (9) using wheel bearing nut tool.
(12) Remove ring gear hub (10).
(13) Using chain hoist, remove wheel hub (31) and
associated parts (22 thru 30) from front
axle.
(14) If necessary, remove seven nuts
(32), washers (33), and cap-
screws (34). Remove caliper
adapter (35).
(15) If necessary, support wheel
spindle (39) and remove 21 nuts
(36), washers (37), and cap-
screws (38). Remove wheel spin-
dle.
NOTE
Repeat steps (1) through (15) above to remove remaining front axle
planetary assembly.
