CLEANING
Dry cleaning solvent P-D-680 used to clean parts is toxic and flammable.
Wear protective goggles and gloves and use only in a well ventilated
area. Avoid contact with skin, eyes and clothes and dont breathe
vapors. Do not use near open flame or excessive heat and dont smoke
when using it. Failure to do so could cause serious injury. If you be-
come dizzy while using cleaning solvent, get fresh air and medical
attention immediately.
If contact with skin or clothes is made, flush
with large amounts of water.
If contact with eyes is made, wash eyes
with water and get medical aid immediately.
Compressed air used for cleaning purposes will not exceed 30 psi. Use
only with effective chip guarding and personal protective equipment
(goggles/shield, gloves, etc). Failure to do so could cause serious
injury to eyes and possible blindness.
If you hurt your eyes or if a
foreign object is blown into your eyes, seek medical attention
immediately.
(a) Clean bearing (26) by immersing in cleaning solvent P-D-680 and slowly
moving up and down. Remove bearing from cleaning solvent and strike
against a block of wood to dislodge solidified particles of lubricant.
Immerse again in cleaning solvent and repeat above until bearing is
clean. Dry using compressed air. Direct air stream across bearing to
avoid spinning. Dont spin bearing when drying; rotate bearing slowly by
hand to facilitate drying. After drying bearing, lubricate using clean
lubricating oil. Keep bearing in a clean area.
(b) Clean remaining parts using cleaning solvent P-D-680. Dry using com-
pressed air or clean cloths.
(c) Clear any obstructions from passages in cylinder block (2), crankcase
(30), and crankshaft (27) using compressed air.
(d) Clean gasket sealing surfaces on cylinder block (2), inlet port (5), end
cover (20), bearing cap (23), and crankcase (30). If necessary, use
scratch wire brush to remove all gasket residue from sealing surfaces.
Clean using clean cloth moistened with cleaning solvent P-D-680.
