Remove two screws (12) and separate steering column (13) from steering gear
valve (14 thru 41).
Put steering gear housing (41) in soft jawed vise.
Using hammer and punch, hit seven splined capscrews (14) to make capscrews
easier to remove.
Loosen and remove seven splined capscrews (14).
Remove end cap (15) and O-ring (16). Discard O-ring.
Lift spacer (17), spacer plate (18), drive shaft (19), O-ring (20), rotor
(21), and stator (22) as an assembly from housing (41).
Separate spacer (17), spacer plate (18), and drive shaft (19) from metering
gear set (21 and 22).
Push rotor (21) out of stator (22) and remove.
Remove and discard O-ring (20) from stator (22).
Remove housing (41) from vise. Hold housing vertical and push valve spool
(28) and sleeve (30) part way out of bottom of housing. Turn sleeve and
spool in both directions and pull them out of housing. Dont use force to
push sleeve and spool out of housing. Pin (27) can move out of sleeve and
spool and keep them from coming out of housing. If sleeve and spool cannot
be pushed out of housing easily, use a magnet to move pin (27) inside valve
spool (28) one way or other.
Remove thrust washer (24), bearing (25), and thrust washer (26) from valve
spool (28).
Using a punch, push pin (27) out of sleeve (30) and valve spool (28) and
remove pin.
Pull valve spool (28) straight out of sleeve (30). Turn valve spool in both
directions as it is pulled out of sleeve.
Remove six springs (29) by pushing out of valve spool (28).
Remove and discard O-ring (23) from housing (41).
