TM 5-3805-262-343-14. STEERING GEAR MAINTENANCE (CONT) INSTALLATIONa.Put steering gear and steering column assembly in soft jawed vise. Slidemounting plate (11) over steering column.b.Install and tighten two lock washers (10) and capscrews (9).c.Put steering gear and steering column in cab and position on deck. If neces-sary, move floor mat out of position.d.Install and tighten four washers (8), lock washers (7), and capscrews (6) tosecure mounting plate to cab deck.e.Reinstall transmission control lever and mounting bracket (refer to TM 5-3805-262-20).f.Slide support bearing (5) over top of steering column. Install and tightentwo washers (2), capscrews (1), lock washers (4), and nuts (3) to secure.g.h.i.j.k.Position cover on steering column andover transmission control lever mountingbracket. Secure cover using two screws.Reinstall turn signal switch (refer toTM 5-3805-262-20).Position floor mat over mounting plate(11).Install steering wheel and connecthoses, lines, and fittings to steeringgear (refer to TM 5-3805-262-20).Start engine and check steering systemoperation.3-524
