AnticavitationValve(Cont).CLEANING AND INSPECTIONDry cleaning solvent P-D-680 used to clean parts is toxic and flammable.Wear protective goggles and gloves and use only in a well ventilatedarea. Avoid contact with skin, eyes and clothes and don’t breathevapors. Do not use near open flame or excessive heat and don’t smokewhen using it. Failure to do so could cause serious injury. If you be-come dizzy while using cleaning solvent, get fresh air and medicalattention immediately.If contact with skin or clothes is made, flushwith large amounts of water. If contact with eyes is made, wash eyeswith water and get medical aid immediately.(1) Clean all parts using cleaning solvent P-D-680. Dry using clean cloths.(2)Inspect control valve body for cracks, breaks, or other damage. Inspectcontrol valve bore for grooves, deep scratches, or other visible wear.Replace entire control valve if control valve body requires replacement.(3) Check that free length of spring (10) is 0.99 inch. Use spring gage andcheck that force required to compress spring to 0.625 inch is 0.9 to 1.1pounds. Check that force required to compress spring to 0.437 inch is1.35 to 1.65 pounds. Replace spring if free length or force required tocompress it is not as specified above.(4)Inspect remaining parts for cracks, breaks, chipping, burrs, deformation,distortion, or damaged or stripped threads.
