LOADER BUCKET ASSEMBLY MAINTENANCE (CONT)CLEANING, INSPECTION, AND REPAIRa.b.c.d.e.f.g.h.i.j.k.Dry cleaning solvent P-D-680 used to clean parts is toxic and flammable.Wear protective goggles and gloves and use only in a well ventilatedarea. Avoid contact with skin, eyes and clothes and donut breathevapors. Do not use near open flame or excessive heat and don’t smokewhen using it. Failure to do so could cause serious injury. If you be-come dizzy while using cleaning solvent, get fresh air and medicalattention immediately. If contact with skin or clothes is made, flushwith large amounts of water.If contact with eyes is made, wash eyeswith water and get medical aid immediately.Clean all parts using cleaning solvent P-D-680. Dry using clean cloths.Inspect clam assembly (11) and blade assembly (10) for broken welds or rustand corrosion. Repair broken welds by welding. Remove rust and corrosion usingscratch wire brush then apply paint to area. Replace clam assembly or bladeassembly if uneconomical to repair.Inspect clam assembly (11) and blade assembly (10) for distortion or otherdamage. Replace if necessary.Inspect blade cutting edge assembly for looseness, bent condition, distortion,nicks, breaks, gouges, and other damage. Replace if necessary (refer to TM5-3805-262-20).Inspect clam bucket shank assemblies for looseness, bent condition, distor-tion, or damage. Replace if necessary (refer to TM 5-3805-262-20).Inspect clam bucket cutting edge for broken welds, distortion, nicks, cracks,breaks, gouges, and other damage. Replace if necessary (refer to TM 5-3805-262-20).Inspect wear plate (14) for cracks, breaks, nicks, gouges, broken welds, dis-tortion, bent condition, or damage. Repair broken welds by welding. Replace ifnecessary.Using a bore gage and micrometer, check inside diameter of bushings (12 and13). Replace bushings if inside diameter is more than 1.520 inches.Using micrometer, measure diameter of each pin (8) at several places along itslength. Replace if diameter is less than 1.488 inches.Inspect pins (8) for bent condition by rolling on flat surface. Replace if itdoes not roll smoothly. Check pins for cracks and deformed clevis pin hole.Inspect remaining parts for breaks, cracks, bent condition, distortion, orthread damage.3-786
