TESTING AND CHARGING - CONTINUED
Nitrogen Charging Procedure
1.
Install chuck (17) on nitrogen cylinder.
2.
Ensure valve (13) of Nitrogen gas charging system (Item 50, WP 0205 00) is closed.
3.
Install nitrogen charging chuck (14) on nitrogen charging valve (9) of pilot oil accumulator (2).
4.
Turn handle (15) of nitrogen charging chuck (14) clockwise to fully open nitrogen charging valve (9).
5.
If reading on pressure gage (16) is too high, slowly open valve (13) of nitrogen gas charging system to lower pressure.
6.
If reading on pressure gage (16) is zero or too low, use this procedure to charge accumulator:
a.
Turn handle (15) of nitrogen charging chuck (14) clockwise to fully open nitrogen charging valve (9).
b.
Adjust screw (18) on regulator assembly (19) until pressure gage (20) is at correct charging pressure.
c.
Slowly open valve (13) and charge accumulator
(2).
d.
Charge accumulator (2) to 125 5 psi (862 34
kPa) at temperature of 70F (21C). Close valve
(13). If two pressure gages (16 and 20) show
same reading and readings do not change, accu-
mulator has correct charge.
e.
If pressure reading on gage (16) decreases, open
valve (13) to allow additional nitrogen to fill
accumulator (2).
f.
Repeat this procedure until two pressure gages
(16 and 20) show same reading.
g.
Ensure neither reading changes when valve (13)
is closed.
