INSTALLATION
1.
Install camshaft gear (17) in front housing (18).
N OT E
When installing camshaft gear, ensure teeth that have timing marks are facing toward front. Also,
ensure that key is aligned properly in keyway. If necessary, tap gear with a soft hammer in order to
seat key in keyway.
2.
Install washer (16) and bolt (15) on camshaft gear (17). Tighten bolt to 58 lb-ft (78 Nm).
N OT E
Ensure that timing marks on camshaft
gear and idler gear are aligned.
3.
If a new camshaft gear (17) is used, check backlash of
camshaft gear with dial indicator.
4.
Position dial indicator and set to 0.00 in. (0.00 mm).
Move gear slightly in each direction to determine
clearance. Minimum backlash for new gear is 0.003
in. (0.08 mm).
