Test Step 2. Test for Faulty Fuel
96-5 Fuel Level Sensor
Level Sensor.
Current Is Below Normal -
1. Turn ignition switch and battery
Continued
disconnect switch to OFF position
(TM 5-3805-298-10).
2. Remove oil cooler cover for
access to wiring harness
connectors (WP 0340).
3. Disconnect connector M-C12
(WP 0012, Figure 58) from fuel
level sensor.
4. Connect jumper wire between
terminal 1 and terminal 2 of
connector M-C12 (WP 0012,
Figure 58).
5. Turn ignition switch and battery
disconnect switch to ON position
(TM 5-3805-298-10).
6. Connect MSD. Select
Diagnostic Code 96-4 Fuel Level
Transmission 924H and check for
Sensor Voltage Is Below Normal
Becomes Active - Replace fuel level
active diagnostic codes
gauge sensor (WP 0276).
Proceed to Test Step 5.
Diagnostic Code 96-5 Fuel Level
Sensor Current Is Below Normal
Remains Active - Proceed to Test
Step 3.
Test Step 3. Test for Open Lower Cab
Wiring Harness.
1. Turn ignition switch and battery
disconnect switch to OFF position
(TM 5-3805-298-10).
2. Remove left lower cab access
panels (WP 0347).
3. Remove transmission ECM cover
(WP 0266).
4. Disconnect connector C-C12
(WP 0012, Figure 26) from
Transmission ECM J1.
5. Using digital multimeter
Resistance 5.0 Ohms or Less -
(WP 0174), measure resistance
Replace transmission ECM (WP 0266).
between connector C-C12
Proceed to Test Step 5.
(WP 0012, Figure 26) terminal 22
Resistance Greater Than 5.0 Ohms -
and terminal 21.
Proceed to Test Step 4.
