WARNING
Always use a ground guide when moving machine up ramp to load onto trailer or rail car.
Failure to use a ground guide may result in an accident, causing death or injury to
personnel or damage to equipment.
5. Start engine and allow machine to warm up (TM 5-3805-298-10).
6. Unlock hydraulic controls (TM 5-3805-298-10).
7. Raise loader arm as required so that loader arm and work tool clear edges of transport.
WARNING
Hearing protection is required if within 25 ft (7.6 m) of an operating machine. Hearing
protection is required when operating machine without cab during transport operations to
prevent hearing loss.
Drive machine without cab with extreme caution. Use low idle and first gear forward or
reverse only. Care should be taken as no operator protection is available with cab
removed.

8. With assistance from ground guides, slowly drive machine onto trailer or rail car.
9. If passing over spanner between rail cars, maintain constant speed, DO NOT stop quickly or reverse direction.
10. Stop machine and engage parking brake when directed by ground guides (TM 5-3805-298-10).
11. Lower work tool and loader arm onto wood blocks on trailer or rail car deck, and apply slight downward
pressure (TM 5-3805-298-10).
12. Turn ignition OFF. Turn ignition switch to ON but do not start engine (TM 5-3805-298-10).
13. Move hydraulic control levers through all positions to relieve hydraulic system pressure in lines. Return levers
to HOLD position (TM 5-3805-298-10).
14. Turn ignition OFF (TM 5-3805-298-10).
15. Lock hydraulic controls (TM 5-3805-298-10).
16. Turn battery disconnect switch to the OFF position (TM 5-3805-298-10).
WARNING
Steering frame lock must be connected between front and rear frame before transporting
machine. Machine may move during transport and may result in damage to equipment
and injury or death to personnel.
