CHARGE ACCUMULATOR
000381
WARNING
Dry nitrogen is the only gas approved for use in pilot oil accumulator. Any other gas may
cause failure of pilot oil accumulator or injury to personnel.
NOTE
Do not charge accumulator while accumulator is installed on machine.
Only a new pilot oil accumulator should be charged before installation.
1. Connect nitrogen charging kit regulator fitting (Figure 6, Item 4) to nitrogen cylinder.
2. Make sure that needle valve (Figure 6, Item 1) is closed and then open valve of nitrogen cylinder.
3. Remove protective cap (Figure 6, Item 5) from accumulator valve (Figure 6, Item 6).
4. Install nitrogen chuck (Figure 6, Item 10) on accumulator valve (Figure 6, Item 6).
5. Open valve handle on nitrogen chuck (Figure 6, Item 10).
6. Adjust screw (Figure 6, Item 9) on regulator (Figure 6, Item 8) until pressure gauge (Figure 6, Item 3) reads
120-130 psi (827-896 kPa).
7. Open needle valve (Figure 6, Item 1) and allow nitrogen to flow into pilot oil accumulator (Figure 6, Item 7).
8. When pressure on pressure gauge (Figure 6, Item 2) matches pressure on pressure gauge (Figure 6, Item 3),
close screw (Figure 6, Item 9) on regulator (Figure 6, Item 8).
9. Wait 60 seconds to ensure that pressure remains stable. If pressure decreases, repeat steps 7 through 9 until
pressure remains stable.
10. Close valve on nitrogen cylinder.
11. Close valve handle on nitrogen chuck (Figure 6, Item 10).
12. Remove nitrogen chuck (Figure 6, Item 10) from accumulator valve (Figure 6, Item 6).
13. Install protective cap (Figure 6, Item 5) on accumulator valve (Figure 6, Item 6).
14. Remove nitrogen charging kit regulator fitting (Figure 6, Item 4) from nitrogen cylinder.
