Adjuetmesst Prmxlures
1. Install pinion (10) in housing (15) complete with bearings.
2. Install locknut (7) or washer (18) and nut (17),
3, While pinion (10) is slowly turned, tighten
locknut (7) until the torque needed
to turn pinion (10) Is , ,
0.9 tO.2 N.m (832 lb, in.) new bearings
0.5 ~ 0.2 N.m (4*2 lb. in.) reused baarings
4,
5.
6.
If the torque needed to turn the szinion is not correct. locknut
(9) and lock (8) must be removed and an adjustment mede to
locknut (7) or nut (17), Then do Steps 3 thru 5 again.
Install lock (8) and locknut (9). Tighten locknut (9).
Paen nut collar (17) into key slot of pinion (10) for Models
9508NSCE and 950 EISCE,
NOTE: Install differential (11 ) in carrier (4) with bevel gear (12) on
the side opposite the dowel hole in carrier (4).
7. Install pinion housing (15) in carrier assembly (4). If the original
gears, carrier assembly and housing are used again use the original
thickness of shims (5). If any of thase parts are replaced, install a
shim pack thickness of . . . , , , . , . , . . . .2.Omm (.08 in,)
8, Assemble differential and bevel gear group in carrier assembly
(4) with the axle centerline in the horizontal position and the
pinion shaft vertically downward. Turn adjustment rings (1 )
and (14) so that there will be free movement (backlash) with
the pinion installed.
9. Tighten adjustment ring (14) until the
amount of backlash between ring gaar
(12) and pinion (10) is , . , , 0,20 to 0.43 mm (.008 to .017 in.)
10. While pinion (10) is slowly turned, tighten
adjustment ring ( 1 ) until the torque needad
to turn pinion (10) is . . . . . . , . 3.86~ 0.55 N.m (34*5 lb. in. )
