MALFUNCTION

8. ENGINE CRANKS BUT DOES NOT START WHEN COLD START AID IS ACTIVATED.
Step 1.
Remove engine left side
panels (page 9-14).
Check that starting fluid
cylinder lock nut is hand
t i g h t .
a . I f s t a r t i n g f l u i d c y l i n -
der lock nut is not hand
t i g h t , t i g h t e n .
b . I f s t a r t i n g f l u i d c y l i n -
der lock nut is hand
tight, go to step 2 be-
low.
Step 2.
Check ether supply by removing and shaking starting fluid cylinder
(page 4-48).
a . I f c y l i n d e r i s e m p t y , r e p l a c e c y l i n d e r.
b. If cylinder is not empty, go to step 3 below.
Step 3.
Check tubing for leaks or dam-
age; listen for hissing sound
when COLD START switch is
p r e s s e d.
a. If hissing sound is heard,
r e p l a c e t u b i n g , f i t t i n g s,
or atomizer as required
(page 4-50).
b. If hissing sound is not
heard, go to step 4 below.
