Dryusing clean cloth.Clean wire terminals, relay contacts, and relay socket contacts usingclean cloth moistened with isopropyl alcohol.cleaning solvent P-D-680 used to clean parts is toxic and flammable.W e a r p r o t e c t i v e g o g g l e s a n d g l o v e s a n d u s e o n l y i n a w e l l v e n t i l a t eda r e a . A v o i d c o n t a c t w i t h s k i n ,e y e s a n d c l o t h e s a n d d o n ’ t b r e a t h evapors. Do not use near open flame or excessive heat and don’t smokewhen using it. Failure to do so could cause serious injury. Dry using clean cloths.AND REPAIR (SHEET 1 OF 4)Inspect wiring harness and relay socket assembly (10) wires for crackedor broken insulation or broken wire strands at connection to terminal.Repair cracked or broken insulation by applying insulation tape to area.If broken wire strands are seen, cut wire as close to terminal as possi-ble. Strip 1/4 inch insulation from end of wire taking care not to cutthrough wire then crimp new terminal securely onto wire.Inspect wires (1 and 8) for cracked or broken insulation or broken wirestrands at connection to terminal. Repair cracked or broken insulation byapplying insulation tape to area.If broken wire strands are seen, re-place wire.Inspect relays (9) base and contacts for cracks, breaks, distortion, orother damage. Connect multimeter between relay contacts 2 and 7 and checkfor 450 to 500 ohms indication. If any of the above conditions are seenor if multimeter does not indicate 450 to 500 ohms, replace relay.5-78
