(1) Clean bearings (4, 14, and 15) by immersing in cleaning solvent P-D-680
and slowly moving up and down. Remove bearings from cleaning solvent and
strike larger side of cone against a block of wood to dislodge solidified
particles of lubricant. Immerse again in cleaning solvent and repeat
above until bearings are clean. Dry using compressed air. Direct air
stream across bearing to avoid spinning. Dont spin bearings when drying;
rotate bearings slowly by hand to facilitate drying. After drying bear-
ings, lubricate using clean lubricating oil. Keep bearings in a clean
area.
(2)
Clean all gasket material from front cover (19) and transmission housing
using clean cloth moistened with cleaning solvent P-D-680.
