INSTALLATION (1) (2) (3) (4) (5) (6) (7) (8) (9) (10) If removed, apply non-hardening sealant to plug (22) threads. Install plug in front cover (19) and tighten. Lubricate seal (21) using lubricating oil and install seal in front cover (19) groove. Apply oil-soluble grease to edge of transmission housing where front cov- er will be installed. Position new gasket (20) on transmission housing. Install front cover (19) on transmission housing. Install 19 lock washers (18) and capscrews (17). Tighten capscrews evenly to pull front cover evenly against transmission housing. Then, tighten capscrews evenly to 26 to 32 lb-ft. Install turbine driven gears and freewheel unit (1 thru 16) in transmission housing. Mesh second turbine driven gear (16) splines with splines of reverse and forward sun gear. Install parking brake (refer to TM 5-3805-262-20). Install torque converter hous- ing (page 4-130). Install torque converter group (page 4-108). 4-146
