TM 5-3805-262-34 4-3. TRANSMISSION MAINTENANCE (CONT) d. Forward Clutch and Planetary Group (Cont). REMOVAL (SHEET 2 OF 2) (6) Remove guide pins and springs from transmission housing. (7) Lift forward clutch carrier (17) and associated parts (13 thru 16), two clutch plates (2) , two clutch plates (3), forward ring gear (4), reverse ring gear (5), and retaining ring (6) as an assembly from transmission housing. (8) Remove four remaining clutch plates (2 and 3). DISASSEMBLY (SHEET 1 OF 2) (1) (2) (3) (4) 4-150 Use compressed air to push forward clutch piston (7) from forward clutch piston housing (12) then remove forward clutch piston. Remove three seals (8 thru 10) from forward clutch piston (7) by inserting awl in groove and working seals out. Discard seals. Remove plug (11) from forward clutch piston housing (12) only if necessary for replacement. Remove four clutch plates (2 and 3) and forward ring gear (4) from carrier assembly (13 thru 17).
