2-16. HYDRAULIC SYSTEM TROUBLESHOOTING (CONT)
MALFUNCTION
TEST OR INSPECTION
CORRECTIVE ACTION
5. HYDRAULIC SYSTEM OIL TOO HOT.
Step 1.
Check control valve neutral pressure (page 3-621).
a. If neutral pressure is not less than 500 psi, go to step 2
below.
b. If neutral pressure is less than 500 psi, go to step 4 below.
Step 2.
With engine operating at full throttle, move each control lever a
small distance and check if pressure indication decreases.
a. If pressure indication decreases, replace control valve (page
3-647) .
b. If pressure indication does not decrease, go to step 3 below.
Step 3.
Turn off engine.
Drain hydraulic reservoir and replace hydraulic filter (refer to TM
5-3805-262-20) .
Repeat control valve neutral pressure check (page 3-621).
If neutral pressure is still not less than 500 psi, turn off en-
gine. Remove control valve hydraulic return lines and check for
dirt or other obstructions (refer to TM 5-3805-262-20).
Step 4.
Check main relief valve pressure setting (page 3-615).
a. If main relief valve pressure setting is not 2300 ±50 psi,
adjust (page 3-617).
b. If main relief valve pressure setting is okay, go to step 5
below.
Step 5.
Check steering relief valve pressure setting (page 3-505).
a. If pressure reading is not between 2400 to 2600 psi, replace
flow control valve (page 3-566).
b. If pressure reading is between 2400 to 2600 psi, go to step 6
below.
