(a) Crank engine using
wrench on crankshaft
pulley capscrew un-
til 10 degree BTDC
(Before Top Dead
Center) timing mark
on crankshaft pulley
is alined with tim-
ing pointer.
(b) Remove rocker arm assembly from
1 cylinder head (page 3-60).
(c) Fabricate valve spring com-
pressor tool as shown.
(d) Compress exhaust valve spring
on No. 1 cylinder using valve
spring compressor tool, remove
two valve keepers, and slowly
raise valve spring compressor
tool to extend spring. Remove
valve spring compressor tool.
