TM 5-3805-262-34SHEET 19 OF 21Check engine no-load governed speed (page 3-14). If no-load governedspeed is not 2300 to 2340 rpm, do no-load governed speed adjustment(page 3-14) before going to step (i) below.Torque converter and hydraulic stall test:Release parking brake by pushing parking brake valve knob inward.Start engine and operate at idle speed.Put transmission control lever in H position.Press and hold down brake treadle and valve pedal for remainder oftest.Increase engine speed to 1500 rpm.Hold BUCKET control lever in CROWD position.Press accelerator pedal fully.Tell first assistant to presstachometer against enginetachometer drive shaft andtake constant reading of en-gine speed.Tell second assistant to watchthermometer of temperatureprobe installed in transmis-sion elbow. When transmission temperaturereaches 200 degrees F, tellfirst assistant to record en-gine speed as indicated by ta-chometer. Engine speed shouldbe 1430 rpm minimum.NOTETachometer drive shaft operates at half engine speed. Double tachometerindication to obtain engine rpm.11Move BUCKET control lever to NEUT. position, release accelerator ped-al, and put transmission control lever in N position. Allow engine tooperate at idle speed for three minutes then turn off engine and applyparking brake by pulling parking brake valve knob outward.NOTEIf engine speed in step 10 above is 1430 rpm minimum, engine, torqueconverter and transmission, and hydraulic system are probably okay. Ifengine speed is not 1430 rpm minimum, do the torque converter stall testbelow.3-21
