CylinderHeads(Cont).INSTALLATIOR (SHEET 3 OF 3)(12) Tighten capscrews (1) in three steps as follows:(a) Following sequence illustrated,tighten capscrews (1) to 70lb-ft.(b) Following same sequence,tighten capscrews (1) to 140lb-ft.(c) Following same sequence,tighten capscrews (1) to 210lb-ft.(13) Install push rods (page 3-71).(14) Install rocker arm assemblies (page 3-71).(15) Install fuel injectors (page 3-113).(16) Adjust valve tappet clearance, cold setting (page 3-6).(17) Install valve covers and square tube (page 3-72).(18) Start engine and run for approximately one hour to warm engine.(19) Shut down engine, and remove square tube and valve covers (page 3-60).NOTEDon’t back off all the capscrews (1) at the same time in following step.Back off, then tighten, each capscrew individually.(20) Following sequence illustrated, back off each capscrew (1) 1/4 turn, thentighten to 210 lb-ft.(21) Tighten rocker arm bracket studs and nuts (page 3-71).(22) Adjust valve tappet clearance, hot setting (page 3-6).(23) Install valve covers and square tube (page 3-72).(24) Install engine hoods and side panels (refer to TM 5-3805-262-20).3-50
