TM 5-3805-262-34 3-5. STARTER REPAIR (CONT) REASSEMBLY (SHEET 2 OF 6) k. l. m. n. o. p. Position lever housing on blocks and install drive assembly (44). Be sure drive assembly engages shift lever. Position drive housing with new gasket (43) on lever housing, alinement marks alined. Install short socket head screw (41) in hole shown, then install remaining five socket head screws (42) to secure drive housing to lever housing. Tighten screws (41 and 42) to 13 to 17 lb-ft. Install new gasket (50) and plug (49) in lever housing (63). Slide thrust washer (40) onto armature (27) shaft. Assemble field coil: (1) (2) (3) (4) (5) (6) (7) (8) Solder terminal stud (39) to field coil (37) and allow to cool. Install bushing assembly (38) on terminal stud (39). Carefully slide field coil (37) in field frame. Guide terminal stud (39) through field frame hole and pull into position. Position two small insulators (36) between field frame and field coil (37). Position large insulator (35) between field frame and field coil (37). Install two insulators (32), washer (31), and nut (30) on terminal stud (39). Tighten nut to 20 to 25 lb-ft. Install four pole shoes (34) in field frame using screws (33): be sure that notch at end of pole shoe (34) is toward terminal stud (39). Tighten eight screws (33) using hand-impact wrench. q. Position lever housing against field frame, alinement marks alined. r. Install five lock washers (29) and capscrews field frame. Tighten capscrews (28) evenly. 3-242 (28) to secure lever housing to
