(2) Set armature tester controls for shorted winding test. Hold steel blade
included with tester parallel with and touching armature core segment.
Rotate armature slowly one or more revolutions. If steel blade vibrates,
armature winding is shorted and armature must be replaced.
(3) Set tester controls for commutator bar test. Follow instructions provided
with tester and check commutator bars for abnormal test indications.
Replace armature if a short, open, or poor connection is detected.
h. Inspect solenoid (10) for cracks or breaks and loose, broken, or corroded
terminal studs. Connect ohmmeter across solenoid G and S terminals and check
for continuity. If continuity is not obtained or any of the above conditions
are seen, replace solenoid.
