Test solenoid (10) hold-in coil as follows:(1) Connect leads of starting and charging system tester to solenoid and bat-tery circuit as shown below.(2)Push in and hold button on remote starter switch.Perform steps (3) through (5) below as quickly as possible. Don’t loadbattery for more than 15 seconds at a time.Wait 1 minute before repeat-ing test to allow tester to cool.(3)(4)(5)(6)(7)(8)3-238Adjust tester LOAD control until tester voltmeter indicates 20 volts.Record indication on tester ammeter.Turn tester LOAD control to OFF position.Release button on remote starter switch.If tester ammeter indication recorded in step (4) above is 6 to 7 amp-eres, solenoid hold-in coil is okay. Do the pull-in coil test below, Ifammeter indication is less than 6 amperes or more than 7 amperes, replacesolenoid.Disconnect test circuit leads.
