INSPECTION, TESTING, AND REPAIR (SHEET 6 OF 7)
j. Test solenoid (10) pull-in coil as follows:
(1) Connect leads of starting and charging system tester to solenoid and
battery circuit as shown below.

Push in and hold button on remote starter switch.
Perform steps (3) through (5) below as quickly as possible. Don’t load
battery for more than 15 seconds at a time. Wait 1 minute before repeat-
ing test to allow tester to cool.

Adjust tester LOAD control until tester voltmeter indicates 5 volts.
Record indication on tester ammeter.
Turn tester LOAD control to OFF position.
Release button on remote starter switch.
If tester ammeter indication recorded in step (4) above is 10 to 11.5
amperes, solenoid is okay. If ammeter indication is less than 10 amperes
or more than 11.5 amperes, replace solenoid.
Disconnect test circuit leads.
