Start engine and operate at idle speed. If CONV TEMP gage pointer is not
approximately 1/2 inch from bottom of gage, go to step (7) below other-
wise go to step (11) below.
Be sure parking brake valve knob is pushed in. Press brake treadle and
valve and move transmission control lever to H position.
Increase engine speed to full throttle and hold for 30 seconds.
Set transmission control lever to N position and operate engine at idle
speed for ten seconds.
Repeat steps (7) through (9) above until CONV TEMP gage needle is approx-
imately 1/2 inch from bottom of gage.
Decrease engine speed to 800 rpm. Be sure transmission control lever is
in N position. Pressure gage should indicate 135 psi minimum; record
indication. Go to step (12) below.
Press brake treadle and valve to prevent loader from moving. With engine
operating at 800 rpm, put transmission control lever in R position. Pres-
sure gage should indicate 135 psi minimum. Go to step (13) below.
Press brake treadle and valve to prevent loader from moving. With engine
operating at 800 rpm, put transmission control lever in F position. Pres-
sure gage should indicate 135 psi minimum. Go to step (14) below.
Press brake treadle and valve to prevent loader from moving. With engine
operating at 800 rpm, put transmission control lever in H position. Pres-
sure gage should indicate 3 to 10 psi less than pressure recorded in step
(11) above. Go to step (15) below.
Put transmission control lever in N position. Shut off engine.
If pressure gage indication was low for all positions of transmission
control lever:
Drain transmission oil and clean suction strainer screen (refer to TM
5-3805-262-20) .
Replace transmission filter (refer to TM 5-3805-262-20).
Clutch cutout cylinder is being activated. Check clutch cutout cylinder
(refer to TM 5-3805-262-20). If clutch cutout cylinder is okay, replace
transmission control valve (page 3-341) and forward to general support
maintenance for repair (spool and spring must be checked).
