Start engine and operate at
idle speed. If CONV TEMP gage
pointer is not approximately
1/2 inch from bottom of gage,
go to step (10) below other-
wise go to step (14) below.
Be sure parking brake valve knob is pushed in. Press brake treadle and
valve and move transmission control lever to H position.
Increase engine speed to full throttle and hold for 30 seconds.
Set transmission control lever to N position and operate engine at idle
speed for ten seconds.
Repeat steps (10) through (12) above until CONV TEMP gage needle is ap-
proximately 1/2 inch from bottom of gage.
Increase engine speed to 2000 rpm. Be sure transmission control lever is
in N position. Flowmeter should indicate at least 18.5 gallons per min-
ute. If flow is less than 18.5 gallons per minute, charging pump is worn
or there is internal leakage in the transmission. Replace charging pump
(page 3-344) and repeat this check. If flow is still less than 18.5 gal-
lons per minute, replace transmission (page 3-328).
Turn off engine and disconnect flowmeter. Reconnect oil cooler hose dis-
connected above to fitting installed in transmission.
