Step 7.
Remove oil pan (page 3-88).
Check for signs of engine coolant leakage at
sleeves.
a. If engine coolant leakage is seen, notify
bottom of cylinder
general support main-
tenance to replace cylinder sleeve(s) O-ring (page 4-6).
b. If engine coolant leakage is not seen, notify general support
maintenance to check cylinder sleeves and pistons for scoring
(pages 4-6 and 4-42).
7. ENGINE STALLS FREQUENTLY OR DOES NOT DEVELOP FULL POWER.
Step 1.
Perform engine compression check (page 3-12).

Step 3.
Check valve timing (page 3-8).
low, go to step 2 below.
high, go to step 4 below.
normal, go to step 5 below.
and repeat engine compression
now normal, replace piston
still low, go to step 3 below.
a. If valve timing is not okay as indicated by dial indicator hand
not indicating 0.053 inch, go to Malfunction 11, page 2-41.
b. If valve timing is okay as indicated by dial indicator hand in-
dicating 0.053 inch, compression leakage is either past valves
or a damaged cylinder head gasket. Remove cylinder head (page
3-45) associated with bad cylinder and check gasket. If cylinder
head gasket is okay, remove and replace valves (page 3-74).
