If backlash still exceeds 0.012 inch, replaceidler gear (page 4-54).Perform fuel injection pump governor adjustments (page 3-14).If backlash does not exceed 0.012 inch, go to Malfunction 1,page 2-47.transmission pressure checks (Malfunction 2, page 2-85).transmission pressure checks are okay, go to step 11 below.Step 11. Remove cylinder heads (page 3-45).Check for a scored cylinder sleeve.Do this by cranking engine untilpiston in cylinder being checked is at bottom of cylinder. Then vi-sually check cylinder sleeve.Repeat for all six cylinders.a. If a cylinder sleeve is scored, notify general support mainte-nance.b. If cylinder sleeves are okay, go to step 12 below.2-29
