e. Air Compressor Assembly (Cont).
(2) Cylinder Block and Crankcase (Cont).
DISASSEMBLY (SHEET 1 OF 3)
(a) Remove six capscrews (1).
(b) Hit cylinder block (2) with
rubber mallet to break seal
of gasket (7). Remove cyl-
inder block assembly (2
thru 6).
(c) Remove two capscrews (3), lock
washers (4), inlet port (5),
and gasket (6). Discard gasket.
(d) Remove and discard gasket (7).
If necessary, use putty knife
to remove gasket.
NOTE
Tag front and rear piston and connecting rod assemblies (8 thru 18)
mating parts before disassembling to ensure reassembly in original
locations. Keep mating parts together.

Turn air compressor assembly on its side and remove four lock nuts (8).
Remove two connecting rod caps (9) and inserts (10). Discard inserts.
Remove two piston and connecting
rod assemblies (10 thru 18) from
crankcase (30).
Install connecting rod caps (9)
and lock nuts (8) on connecting
rods (12) and capscrews (11) to
ensure that mating parts are
kept together.
Remove and discard three com-
pression rings (13), two oil
rings (14), and expander ring
(15) from piston (18).
Remove two buttons (16) from
piston (18).
Put piston (18) and connecting rod (12) in hydraulic press.
Press wrist pin (17) from piston (18) using 3/8 inch diameter rod.
