3-12. AIR BRAKE SYSTEM MAINTENANCE (CONT)
e. Air Compressor Assembly (Cont).
(1) Cylinder Head and Unloader (Cont).
REASSEMBLY (SHEET 3 OF 3)
(r) Install new spring (9) in diaphragm (8).
(s) Install new seal (6) in groove on new
retainer (5).
(t) Install new disk (7) in retainer (5). Use
silicone lubricant to hold disk in place.
(u) Lubricate spring (9), diaphragm (8), seal
(6), retainer (5), and bores of unloader
(4) with silicone lubricant.
(v) Install diaphragm (8) and spring (9) in unloader (4) bore. Be sure
spring remains inside diaphragm.
(w) Install retainer assembly (5 thru 7) in unloader bore, so that disk (7)
is in contact with diaphragm (8).
(x) Repeat steps (r) through (w) above for remaining unloader bore.
(y) Install unloader assembly (4 thru 9) on cylinder head (14). Secure using
two capscrews (3).
(z) Install two fittings (2) and tube (1).
(aa) Install air compressor assembly governor (refer to TM 5-3805-262-20).
(ah) Install air compressor assembly and adjust governor (refer to TM 5-
3805-262-20).
