Put front cover (15) in hydraulic press with mounting surface upwards.
Position new seal (14), lip down, in seal bore in front cover (15). Press
seal into front cover using 15/16 inch diameter sleeve.
Remove front cover (15) from press and install in soft jawed vise with
mounting surface downward.
Install new O-ring (13) in front cover (15) groove.
Install new seal (12) in front cover (15) groove so that open side of
seal is downward.
Install new gasket (11), new heat shield (10), and new wear plate (9) on
front cover (15). Be sure that brass side of wear plate (9) is facing
upwards towards gears (7 and 8).
Install driven gear (8) and drive gear (7) in front cover (15,1. Be sure
that small hole in driven gear (8) shaft is towards front cover (15).
Install two dowel pins (6) in front cover (15).
Install center body (5) on front cover (15) with match marks alined.
Put small amount of lubricating oil in center body (5) around drive and
driven gears (7 and 8).
Install new O-ring (4) in rear cover (3) groove.
Install rear cover (3) on center body (5) with match marks alined.
Install four washers (2) and capscrews (l). Tighten capscrews to 190 to
210 lb-in.
Remove pump from vise. Manually turn drive gear (7) shaft and check that
drive and driven gears (7 and 8) turn freely.
Join auxiliary steering pump and motor (page 3-533).
