(15) Using paint, put match marks on
commutator end cover (37), brush
plate (32), and brush set (28)
terminals.
(16) Pull brush springs (29) out of the
way to obtain access to brushes of
brush set (28). Remove brushes
from brush plate (32) brush
holders and remove brush set.
NOTE
Don’t perform following step unless inspection indicates replacement of
brush springs (29) is necessary. Replace all brush springs as a set if
any brush spring(s) require replacement.
(17) Remove eight brush springs (29) from brush plate (32) by turning brush
spring to disengage tang from brush holder then pulling spring straight
up and off spring holders.
(18) Remove four screws (30) and lock washers (31), and remove brush plate
(32) from commutator end cover (37).
(19) Remove shims (33 and 34) from commutator end cover (37).
(20) Remove retaining ring (35) from commutator end cover (37).
