Dry using clean cloth.Clean armature (21), brush set (28), and field coil (47) by wiping withclean, lint free cloth. Don’t use cleaning solvent to clean these parts.Clean all remaining parts using clean cloth moistened with cleaning sol-vent P-D-680. Dry using clean cloths.AND REPAIR (SHEET 1 OF 2)Using micrometer, measure length of brush set (28) brushes. Replace brushset if any brush is less than 3/8 inch long.Connect an indicating dial scale to brush spring (29) as shown. Pullscale and record scale indication. Repeat for remaining seven brushsprings (29). Replace all brush springs if scale indication for any onebrush spring is not 3-1/4 to 4 pounds.Connect multimeter to terminal stud (43) as shown. Replace field coil(47) and housing (48) if multimeter does not indicate continuity (multi-meter pointer does not move to right).3-547
