If test lamp glows, armature or commutator is grounded. Replacearmature.With armature installed in growler and power on, hold steel blade pro-vided with growler parallel with and touching armature core segment asshown.Rotate armature slowly one or more revolutions. If steel blade vibrates,armature is shorted. Replace armature.Turn growler power off. Positionarmature in growler as shown.Test commutator bars for abnormalreadings following directionssupplied with growler. Replacearmature if testing indicatescommutator is grounded, armatureis shorted, or if commutatorreadings indicate a short, or openor poor connection.Turn growler power off and removearmature from growler.Go to Inspection, step (12) above(page 3-548).3-549
