Replaceentire control valve if control valve body requires replacement.Inspect spool (30) for grooves, deep scratches, or other visible wear.Replace if necessary.Check that free length of spring (22) is 4.25 inches. Use spring gage andcheck that force required to compress spring to 2.250 inches is 27 to 33pounds. Check that force required to compress spring to 1.375 inches is38 to 48 pounds. Replace spring if free length or force required to com-press it is not as specified above.Check that free length of spring (28) is 1.47 inches. Use spring gage andcheck that force required to compress spring to 1.250 inches is 45 to 55pounds. Check that force required to compress spring to 1.125 inches is70.2 to 85.8 pounds. Replace spring if free length or force required tocompress it is not as specified above.Check that free length of spring (34) is 1.86 inches. Use spring gage andcheck that force required to compress spring to 1.250 inches is 1.35 to1.65 pounds. Check that force required to compress spring to 1 inch is1.92 to 2.32 pounds. Replace spring if free length or force required tocompress it is not as specified above.Connect multimeter across coil (17) wires. Check that multimeter indi-cates 45 to 65 ohms resistance. Replace coil if multimeter indication isnot correct. Connect multimeter across one wire of coil and metal housingof coil. Check that multimeter indicates infinity (open circuit). If mul-timeter indication is not correct , replace coil. Connect multimeter leadto other wire of coil. Multimeter must indicate infinity (open circuit).Replace coil if multimeter indication is incorrect.Inspect poppets (29 and 35) for cracks, breaks, or chipping. Replace ifany of these conditions are seen. Remove burrs using 600 grit abrasivecloth. Check that poppets move freely without binding in their respectivebores in spool (30). If poppets do not move freely, replace.Inspect remaining parts for cracks, breaks, deformation, distortion, ordamaged or stripped threads.3-677
