TM 5-3805-262-34CLEANING AND INSPECTIONDry cleaning solvent P-D-680 used to clean parts is toxic and flammable.Wear protective goggles and gloves and use only in a well ventilatedarea. Avoid contact with skin, eyes and clothes and don-t breathevapors. Do not use near open flame or excessive heat and don’t smokewhen using it. Failure to do so could cause serious injury. If you be-come dizzy while using cleaning solvent, get fresh air and medicalattention immediately. If contact with skin or clothes is made, flushwith large amounts of water.If contact with eyes is made, wash eyeswith water and get medical aid immediately.(1)( 2)(3)( 4 )( 5)Clean all parts using cleaning solvent P-D-680. Dry using clean cloths.Inspect control valve body for cracks, breaks, or other damage. Inspectspool bore for grooves, deep scratches, or other visible wear. Replaceentire control valve if control valve body requires replacement.Inspect spool (7) for grooves, deep scratches, or other visible wear. Re-place if necessary.Check that free length of spring (10) is 2.06 inches. Use spring gage andcheck that force required to compress spring to 1.437 inches is 27 to 33pounds. Check that force required to compress spring to 0.937 inch is 49to 61 pounds. Replace spring if free length or force required to compressit is not as specified above.Inspect remaining parts for cracks, breaks, deformation, distortion, ordamaged or stripped threads.3-685
