INSPECTION
NOTE
Replace an item if inspection indicates need for replacement.
a. Shine a light into cylinder tube (19). Inspect inner wall for deep grooves,
scores, or other damage. Remove small scratches from inner wall using medium
grit abrasive cloth polishing with a rotary motion.
b.
Inspect rod (16) for straightness. If rod is bent, dont try to straighten
it: it must be replaced. Remove small scratches from rod using medium grit
abrasive cloth polishing with a rotary motion.
c.
Inspect bushings (15 and 18) for excessive wear or damage. Using bore gage
and micrometer, measure inside diameter of bushings. Replace bushing (15) if
inside diameter is more than 2.020 inches. Replace bushings (18) if inside
diameter is more than 2.523 inches.
d.
Inspect gland (14) and pistons (3 and 4) for deformation, chipping, cracks,
or breaks.
e.
Inspect lubrication fitting (17) for cracks, deformation, blockage, or dam-
aged threads.
f.
Inspect all other parts for cracks, deformation, or thread damage.
