Check inside diameter of each valve guide
(3) in three positions as shown. Insert
bore gage into valve guide then check bore
gage using micrometer. Replace valve guide
if its diameter is more than 0.4065 inch
at any point.
REASSEMBLY (SHEET 2 OF 2)
NOTE
Perform following two steps only if valve guides (3) were removed,
otherwise go to step (3) below.
In following step, valve guide must protrude 0.953 inch above cylinder
head.

To install new valve guides (3), press valve guide part way into cylinder
head using hydraulic press. Place 13/16 inch inside diameter by 0.953
inch long bushing over valve guide. Press valve guide into head until hy-
draulic press ram makes contact with bushing. Check that valve guide pro-
trudes 0.953 inch above cylinder head.
(2) Ream guides (3) to 0.4045-0.4055 inch using reamer.
